What To Look For In An Online Traffic School

We know, we know. You've been court ordered to take DUI classes or maybe you just need to brush up your skills in a defensive driving class. No one's usually all that excited to be going to traffic school (except us, but we're biased!) but that's okay! All you really need to focus on is learning and growing as a driver.

In the meantime, why not attend a driving school that's, at the very least, comfortable and relatively enjoyable? At North Metro, we pride ourselves on creating the kind of environment we'd want to take driving classes in, and our students tell us they can feel the difference. Next time you need to sign up for traffic school, even if you're not in the Atlanta area, look for these six things...

1. Convenient Location
Odds are, you're going to be heading to class more than once, and probably multiple times a week for a month or two. You should chose a traffic school with a location convenient to you, and also one that isn't likely to be impacted hugely by traffic problems. Remember, most states including Georgia mandate students arrive on time for traffic school or they may be kicked out.

Likewise, you don't want to have to drive around for 30 minutes to find a parking spot (or worse, pay to park!) once you get to class! The traffic school you choose ideally will have a dedicated parking lot or deck and it will be very well lighted and in a safe area since you'll probably get out of class after dark some of the time. The best traffic schools will be in close proximity to retail and restaurants for class breaks, too.

3. Nice Facilities
It may not seem like a big deal when you sign up but sitting for hours in a cramped, dilapidated classroom can really make traffic school feel worse than it is. Why not look for a school with modern facilities, clean bathrooms, and comfortable seating? If you've got to be in class you may as well be comfortable, right?

4. Highly-Trained Staff
Traffic schools who employee full-time counselors and instructors usually offer better-quality classroom experience than those who don’t. If you’re going to spent hours in driving class you might as well learn something while you’re at it! Look for fully-certified instructors with years of experience and hundreds of hours in the classroom. You can bet if a traffic school’s had thousands of students, they’re working with quality instructors.

In Georgia, traffic schools are required by law to charge a minimum amount for classes. It may seem obvious, but if your traffic school doesn’t tell you they’ve got the lowest possible prices, they’re probably jacking your rate up! Look for a school that will let you get certified for the least amount of money allowed.

6. Full-Process Help
You probably have a lot of questions. What do I need to do before class starts? Does taking this particular course satisfy my court requirements? How do I prove I’ve completed the class? Finding a traffic school whose employees will answer your questions and give you friendly, consistent guidance is half the battle.

And, of course, why not look for a school that offers free coffee and tea, vending machines, waiting areas, and even outdoor smoking facilities? Since traffic schools know they can’t compete on price you as the customer benefit from a facilities competition. Choosing the right school may be as simple as finding one you like, not one you can tolerate!
