Who’s Been Charged With a DUI Lately?

Who’s Been Charged With a DUI?

These famous names can’t seem to keep themselves out of trouble.

From music artists to politicians, no one’s above the law when it comes to being charged with DUI. If you drink and drive you can count on getting caught…and the penalties for drunk driving in the U.S. are no laughing matter. You’ll likely have to pay a hefty fine, incur points on your license, and attend a DUI risk reduction class in your area to satisfy court orders.

Avoid these consequences by always using a designated driver, never drinking if you’re under 21, and calling a cab when you need a ride! Don’t be like these folks…

Chris Pine

Star of the revamped Star Trek movies, Chris Pine was charged with a DUI in New Zealand, of all places, on March 1. His NZ driver’s license has been suspended for 6 months and he had to pay a small fine but we’re guessing Pine’s happy he made his mistake away from American soil where penalties are stiffer.

Atlanta DUI ClassesChief Keef

A rapper with strong Atlanta ties, Chief Keef was arrested in Highland Park, IL earlier this month for suspicion of DUI, driving without a license, and no proof of insurance. Since Chief Keef had been released from rehab just a few days prior we’re hoping he gets the help and group counseling he needs.

Jim Irsay

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was arrested in early March in for driving under the influence and “possession” (of what, it’s still unclear). He likely won’t serve jail time but will probably have some community service and DUI classes to attend in addition to what’s rumored to be a huge fine by the NFL.

Bree Walker

You may not know her name unless you live in the greater LA area but the long-time area news anchor was busted for DUI back in February in Orange County, CA. When police smelled alcohol in her car they arrested Walker for DUI and records show she spent some time in rehab a few years back and recently announced she’ll be returning for another stint.

Georgia DUI ClassKate Major

Kate Major is the fiancé of Michael Lohan, Lindsay’s dad, and it’s no secret the family has had plenty of experience with DUIs. Major zoomed off from their Florida home and Michael called the cops, explaining she was high on pills and booze. She was arrested and booked…but not after crashing into some bushes not far from her home.

Fred Davis

Back in late February, Redskins tight end Fred Davis was arrested in Fairfax, VA after he was found passed out behind the wheel of his Rolls Royce at a stoplight at 4am. He blew a .17 during a Breathalyzer test and allegedly performed terribly during a field sobriety test; he’s currently out on bail, awaiting trial, and suspended by the NFL.

What can we learn from these unfortunate stories? Drinking and driving is never a good idea and odds are, at least some of these celebrities thought they were “fine to drive” or could “make it home, just this one time.” If you’re ever unsure about whether or not you’re safe to drive simply call a cab, a friend, or stay where you are.

If you think you may have a problem with alcohol or other substances please seek out help in your local area. There are plenty of outpatient, weekly therapy programs available at private facilities around the country that can help you identify a problem and get back on your feet.
